Fish ocarina
A playable ceramic ocarina shaped like a fish, with a little boy lying on top. Inspired by the flute fish of Ryukyu hariko, the traditional folk toys of Okinawa, and handmade by Natalia in Barcelona.
Ryukyu hariko are the traditional folk toys of Okinawa, known for their bright colors and playful shapes. This piece takes its inspiration from their flute fish and turns it into a ceramic ocarina: a pink and red fish with a little boy lying on its back, both shaped and painted by hand.
It works as a small musical instrument and as a decorative art object for a shelf or desk. Because it is made entirely by hand in Natalia’s studio in Barcelona, small variations in the glaze and color are part of its character, and there is only one of this exact piece.
